Pakistan won an international cricket tournament after 17 years when they outplayed Sri Lanka by eight wickets to become World Twenty20 champions at the Lord's here on Sunday.
Pakistan erupted in celebration last night as Younis Khan and his men won the Twenty20 World Cup defeating Sri Lanka by eight wickets at Lords, London. The city of Karachi reverberated with fireworks as people thronged onto the streets to celebrate the national team's victory in the Twenty20 World Cup.

I must admit that at the start of the tournament, no one would have thought that a team that was going through so many problems on the domestic front would even be able to reach the finals, let alone win it. Some say that they had an easy road till the semi's, but then in the semi's they beat South Africa who were the odds on favourites and in the finals they beat Srilanka who were yet to lose a game. I say, job well done. They deserved it.
